Round One Matchup
Following last week's opening Hasbro Classic match of The British Bulldog vs. The Million Dollar Man, we move on to Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake against the nearly 8 foot tall Giant Gonzales.
Right from the outset, this appeared to be a huge mismatch. The Giant grabbed Beefcake and tossed him around the canvas like a sack of garbage. After The Barber saw the view from the cheap seats, he was slammed down to the mat again and again. Would the referee stop the match?
Soon, The Giant set Beefcake up in the corner and prepared to run into his opponent at full speed (well, full speed for Gonzales). But The Barber had other plans. Ducking out of the corner at the last possible moment, Gonzales crashed into the corner post.
Wasting no time at all, Beefcake leapt onto the giant's back and applied his famous sleeper hold. Would Giant Gonzales go home with a haircut?
Using his immense size to his advantage, Gonzales fought off the sleeper attempt, lumbering around the ring and using his momentum to flip Beefcake to the mat below.
From there, Giant Gonzales rocked The Barber with lefts and rights until he was groggy. Then he lifted Beefcake up in a vertical suplex position and -- utilizing a move he hadn't ever tried until this very moment -- fell forward to the canvas below.
Winded from the reverse suplex variant (at least, that's what we here at The Hasbro Classic are calling it), Beefcake lay prone on the mat, as Gonzales went for a cover.
One.... Two.... Three.... Your winner: GIANT GONZALES!!!
After the match, Gonzales left the ringside area to jeers, while Beefcake had be carried away on a stretcher. Would his buddy Hulk Hogan come to his aid?
