There are lots of changes taking place in NXT right now. It’s a promotion in a state of flux as the majority of their main-event players have either been injured (ex: Sami Zayn, Hideo Itami) or called-up to the main roster (ex: Kevin Owens, Neville, Charlotte, Sasha Banks). This means that with the exception of a few upper-card performers (ex: Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, Bayley, Tyler Breeze), the promotion seems to be relying on a number of question marks and unproven gimmicks to continue its success.
First off, NXT is bringing in WWE main roster guys who need a “reboot” of sorts in order to find themselves or develop a new gimmick. For instance, last week Adam Rose showed up on NXT television doing a new version of his previous gimmick, only this time he had stopped the party and “cleaned up”. He was there to “poop” on everybody’s party because they all “pooped” on his. Ugh. Will this gimmick take off? Of course not, but NXT is where they test this type of thing out.
