Diesel over Bob Backlund
WWE Hall of Famer Bob Backlund shocked the world when he heelishly captured the WWF World Title from Bret Hart at the 1994 Survivor Series. Just three days later, the newly-turned babyface Diesel substituted for Hart in a rematch, and shockingly captured the gold from Backlund in just eight seconds!
As much as some wrestling love the heels... nothing makes for a better mark-out moment than a babyface wrestler winning a big match on a major stage, basking in the cheers of the crowd.
When done correctly, a huge babyface victory can send the crowd home happy and cap off a story arc that had been brewing for weeks, months and in some cases, years.
While many times, a championship belt changes hands, as a result of the Babyface Victory, it's certainly not a prerequisite. It may be that the babyface scored a major upset, retained their belt against overwhelming odds, or got revenge on a hated rival (or rivals). So some of these aren't necessarily tied to title changes.
In counting down the Top 50 Babyface Victories, we looked at the following criteria:
How memorable was the victory, even years later?
Is the opponent's defeat almost as important as the winner's vctory?
What was the crowd reaction?
Did the match take place at a historic show?
One note: These moments are limited to events that have happened in the last 30 to 35 years (coincidentally when Canadian Bulldog became a wrestling fan) and mostly take place in North America, e.g. WWF/E, NWA/WCW, ECW, TNA and elsewhere.

Even since the WCW InVasion began in early 2001, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T led the charge as WCW World Champion. Unfortunately for him, The Rock returned from Hollywood to defend both himself and the rest of the WWF. At SummerSlam on August 19, 2001, Rock won the WCW World Championship.

At the Royal Rumble on January 29, 2006, Rey Mysterio dedicated the match to his late best friend Eddie Guerrero. Entering second in the match, Mysterio lasted 62:15 (still a Royal Rumble record) and eliminated six competitors, winning the Royal Rumble and earning a World Title shot at WrestleMania XXII.
Bayley had won over fans by defeating Sasha Banks for the NXT Women's Championship earlier in the year. But at NXT TakeOver: Respect on October 7, 2015, the two had a rematch that marked the first time a women's match headlined a major WWE show. Bayley retained her title in an Iron Man Match.
