The Fabulous Freebirds
Our opening bout is a six-man tag team match featuring Demolition (Ax, Smash and Crush) versus WWE Hall of Famers The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes, Terry Gordy and Buddy Roberts). While Demolition are the stronger trio, The Birds have more experience teaming up. Winners: The Fabulous Freebirds
Three years ago this month, Canadian Bulldog's World presented a list of the Top 50 Dream Matches that featured fantasy match-ups of some of the biggest names of the past 30 years, including John Cena vs. Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels & Triple H vs. Scott Hall & Kevin Nash, Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. CM Punk and 47 other "what if" scenarios.
Three years later, we're doing it all over again.
The criteria for this list is fairly simple: what's a matchup that would be unique, unusual and cool enough to make even the most jaded of fans sit up and take notice? Think of this as a 50-match supercard, with no wrestler being featured more than once and the bigger matches being higher up on the list (or card). We'll also predict a winner for each match.
Really, the only considerations we made is that each wrestler is in their prime when these matches happened (so you're not getting Bruno Sammartino in 2017, or Hulk Hogan today) and that the match never happened, to the best of our knowledge. And instead of limiting ourselves to the past 30 years this time.... we're going back further in history in some instances.
As always, Canadian Bulldog's World thrives on your feedback. If you have any suggestions or thoughts, please feel free to post them on Twitter care of @CanadianBulldog, using the hashtag #Top50.
Ready? Here we go!
Chyna made headlines during The Attitude Era for being the most physically dominant female competitor around. Some twenty years later, Nia Jax is her natural successor. Their voices even sound alike! But at the end of the day, Chyna was far more dominant at her peak than Jax is today. Winner: Chyna
Lita vs. Alexa Bliss
Perhaps a match between WWE Hall of Famers The Road Warriors and The New Day wouldn't be a classic, but consider this: both duos were among the most dominant of their era, boosting the importance of tag team wrestling. But ultimately this wouldn't be a rush for The New Day. Winners: The Road Warriors
