Week of November 9, 2015
With last week’s unfortunate injury to WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins, the company immediately scrambled to try and find a solution to their new “Who is the face of the company?” problem. With Survivor Series just around the corner, they have found the perfect opportunity to create some massive buzz around the PPV in addition to solving the dilemma of how to appoint a new champion.
So the question on everyone's mind, and I'm sure a question that will be answered tonight on RAW, is just who will be in this tournament? Will WWE have a large tournament or a small one? How many participants will there be? Can we anticipate any surprises?
Unless I'm mistaken, the last tournament (held on RAW, if I recall correctly) they held for King of the Ring only had eight participants in four matches to kick things off. With such a big PPV and a huge opportunity to create new stars that are desperately needed due to their current aging (and injured) main event roster, I'd be disheartened if I didn’t see a one-night, 16-man tournament take place (similar to WrestleMania IV).
This, obviously, leads us to the question of who will be the next champion. I think there are some obvious choices that Vince & Company will go with:
